Willywaw is the design studio of artist Ashley Van Etten. Named after the ferocious arctic winds that sweep down coastal mountains and slam onto the ocean, Willywaw embodies nature's energy, which in turn inspires Ashley's work. Original designs are created in a variety of mediums and then interpreted for paper and textile products.
When not in her studio, Ashley can be found skiing on Mount Washington with her husband, Joe, paddling around Narragansett Bay, or hanging out with her dog, Cody, a rescued border collie/Alaskan husky mix.
Ashley’s portfolios can be viewed at willywaw.com.

I've posted quite a few new pieces over the weekend! Please convo me if you have any questions and try to place your order by Dec.10 to receive in time for Christmas.
Bit more information about my work:
I design, print, cut and sew all of my totes and textiles. They are screen printed using water based textile inks that have low toxicity, a wonderful hand and transparent colors. I print mainly on organic cotton and organic cotton & hemp blends and use strong, thick thread.
T-shirt blanks are from Comfort Colors, they are super soft, come in yummy colors and are dyed in Vermont. I use plastisol ink on the t's and find that the benefits outweigh the negatives. There is no waste of unused ink, no chance of ink drying in the screen, and an almost unlimited shelf life. I've also found that plastisol lasts longer after repeated washings, generally longer than the life of the t-shirt itself, compared to water based inks. I try to thin the ink as much as possible so that the print has a soft hand and doesn't feel like a slab of plastic! And I'm picky about that sort of thing.
